Mon, 1 August All day
The 4th day of the 6th month of the Tibetan calendar is Chokhor Duchen, which commemorates the anniversary upon which Shakyamuni Buddha first began teaching. Buddha was silent for the first forty-nine days after he attained enlightenment and only shared his insights on accepting the request from Indra and Brahma. This special event is known as Buddha Shakyamuni’s first turning the Wheel of Dharma. His teaching was on the Four Noble Truths and it was given to five disciples in Sarnath, India.
