Profile:

joining the weekly meditation and chanting sessionsTina Malhotra is a devoted mother, resilient homemaker, and a quiet yet deeply rooted member of the Khachodling community. She lives in Aleo, Manali, with her husband and son, Devanshu — a bright young teen being mentored through Khachodling’s youth programs. While her husband works hard as a daily wage laborer, taking up whatever work becomes available, Tina has always done her part to support the family.

For many years, she made paper bags from home and sold them to shopkeepers in the area. Even though the earnings were modest, her work brought a sense of dignity and contribution to the household. During this time, she received small loans from Manali Zhimkhang at very low interest rates — a compassionate financial support system that allowed her to manage basic needs without falling into debt.

She was also lovingly supported by Gurumaa, who provided her with a monthly allowance to help cover her ongoing medical needs, a gesture that has been consistent and deeply impactful over the years. This support — both practical and spiritual — has formed the backbone of Tina’s resilience.

In June 2025, life took a difficult turn when Tina suffered a heart attack and had to undergo a stent implantation procedure. The weeks and months following the surgery were full of uncertainty. Her health challenges made it impossible for her to continue working, and the financial pressure became intense.

However, throughout this time, Tina remained grounded in her spiritual faith. Although she comes from a Hindu family, she has always shown deep devotion to Lord Buddha, and is a sincere participant in the Khachodling Sunday practices —  with an open heart and a humble spirit. Her spiritual dedication bridges traditions, and she is embraced by the community as someone who walks the path with honesty and grace.

Tina often speaks of the strength she draws from Rinpoche’s compassionate guidance, and how the kindness shown to her during her most vulnerable moments renewed her hope and inner strength.

Today, Tina is happily back to work, regaining her energy and confidence. She continues to make paper bags when her health allows, and she does so with a sense of peace and satisfaction. More than just recovering physically, Tina is thriving as a spiritual being, growing steadily in her practice and in her sense of self.

She is a beautiful example of quiet courage, faith, and transformation — a reminder that even in the most difficult times, healing and hope are possible when a community stands together.

Quote:

“In my hardest moments, I found light in the kindness around me. It reminds me that I’m not alone — and that love can carry us through anything.”
