Drukpa Zimkhang is the personal home of Khandro Thrinlay Chodon and her beloved late husband the 9th Shabdrung. Now under the guidance of Khandro Rinpoche, it is once again a thriving hub of dharma practice and activity both for the local Himalayan community and indeed for the international sangha.
Over the past years there have been two special projects which have focussed the practice and dedication of local sangha at this sacred place – one was the establishment of the five element garden and the other is the sacred shrine to the divine feminiine. Both have enhanced the zimkhang to allow the increased community practice and use.
Now however there is an urgent need to renovate the buiding itself, The roof is leaking and internal timbers are being ruined. With so much rain these last years it means urgent replacement of main roof is required as soon as possible.
In addition there is important work required to renovate the entrance at the gate & the covered entrance which collapsed under unseasonably heavy snow last year. This area is used for cooking & even shelter during large community gatherings and pujas.
With the increased regular use of this home by the entire community the zimkhang requires this urgent and vital repair work so that it may continue to function as the home and vital hub of dharma.
Those familiar with the life story of Shakya Shri will know that the renovation of holy sites was an important part of his work. He even sent his sons to Nepal to help renovate Boudnath Stupa during a period of neglect. May your offering to this project sustain you and others and make many ripples of positive forces in your life.
