Guru Rinpoche day

Guru Rinpoche day is considered one of the auspicious days in the lunar calendar and falls on the 10th day of each lunar month.

This month marks the anniversary of Guru Shakya Sengé, one of the eight manifestations of Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava)

In this nirmanakaya manifestation, even though a fully enlightened Buddha, for the benefit of sentient beings Padmasambhava took ordination from Buddha’s disciple Ananda and passed through the various stages of realisation one by one. He demonstrated an unrivalled ability in understanding and accomplishing both the Sutrayana and Mahayana and therefore became known as Guru Shakya Senge, ‘lion of the Shakyas’.
