Guru Rinpoche day

Guru Rinpoche day is considered one of the auspicious days in the lunar calendar and falls on the 10th day of each lunar month.

This month marks the anniversary of Dorje Drolo, one of the eight manifestations of Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava)

In this nirmanakaya manifestation, Padmasambhava conjured his wrathful form and flew on the back of a lion up to Paro Takstang in Bhutan where he defeated local deities. They were converted into protectors of the dharma, in particular of the terma teachings and were entrusted with secret oral instructions to be revealed to certain Tertons or treasure discoverers at suitable times. He became known as Dorje Drolo or Guru of ‘ adamanttine wrath.’
