Guru Rinpoche day is considered one of the auspicious days in the lunar calendar and falls on the 10th day of each lunar month.
This month marks the anniversary of Nyima Ozer, one of the eight manifestations of Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava).
In this nirmanakaya manifestation, Padmasambhava transformed the poison of the Tirthikas into nectar. His healthy radiance converted the minds of the Trithikas and their retinue to the dharma. Henceforth he was known as Nyima Ozer or he who ‘is like the rays of the sun’.
