Anniversary of Marpa Lotsawa

Marpa Lotsawa (1012-1097) studied dharma initially in India, especially for 12 years with his Guru Naropa. He is largely credited for the bringing of many Vajrayana teachings, especially Mahamudra into Tibet, his homeland. Renowned Guru of Milarepa and known as translator Marpa he in essence founded the Kagyu lineages. Milarepa inherited his lineage.
