SUMMARY:Celebrating Khandro Rinpoche's Birthday
DESCRIPTION:Why We Celebrate \nI value my life more because you are in it. \n                       — Jane Miknius (long-time student and attendant to Khandro Rinpoche) \nOn this special occasion of Khandro Rinpoche’s 60th birthday\, we gather with gratitude to celebrate a life dedicated to wisdom\, compassion\, and the flourishing of an authentic Buddhist lineage. \nFor many of us\, Rinpoche’s presence has been a source of inspiration\, courage\, and joy. Through her teachings\, example\, and unwavering bodhicitta\, she has helped countless students discover greater meaning\, clarity\, and purpose in their lives. \nHer life reminds us that wisdom is not merely taught—it is lived. Through her kindness\, humour\, authenticity\, and tireless dedication to others\, she continues to guide and inspire students throughout the world. \nIn the Buddhist tradition\, celebration is not simply a commemoration; it is an opportunity to generate merit and create the conditions for positive qualities and beneficial activities to continue and flourish. By rejoicing in Rinpoche’s life and accomplishments\, we support the continuation of her activities and the transmission of the precious teachings she carries. \nWith heartfelt gratitude\, we pray that Khandro Rinpoche’s life may be long\, that she may continue in good health\, and that the Shakya Shri lineage may remain pure and flourish under her guidance for the benefit of all beings. \nOur Birthday Gift Offering \n A Story from Jane \nGuru-ma grew up surrounded by many of the great Himalayan Buddhist masters of her generation\, including those within her own family. The simplicity of the life they lived can be difficult for many of us in the West to imagine. Material comfort was never a priority. Practice\, family\, devotion\, and service were at the centre of life. \nLike many Himalayan yogis and yoginis\, Rinpoche was accustomed to sleeping very simply—traditionally on a sheepskin on the floor\, often sharing space with siblings\, family members\, or attendants. It was simply the way things were done. \nWhen I first arrived at Drukpa Zimkhang\, Rinpoche’s home in Manali\, in 2005\, I was surprised to discover that there was no bed in her room. Stored away in a yellow metal cupboard was an old sheepskin that she and her late husband had used for sleeping on the floor. \nCurious\, I asked Agula\, the Bhutanese manager who had known His Holiness Shabdrung Rinpoche since childhood\, whether there might be a bed somewhere in the house that could be used for our precious Guru. Together we searched the large attic of this beautiful Bhutanese-style home—the only one of its kind in India. \nTo our delight\, we discovered an old wooden bedframe stored away in pieces. Although it had not been used for years\, it was in remarkably good condition. We assembled it and placed it in Rinpoche’s room. There was still no mattress\, so I happily offered to buy one\, together with sheets\, to complete her new sleeping arrangements. \nThat same bedframe and mattress remain in use to this day. \nSometime later\, after mentioning that I could no longer tolerate sleeping on the traditional coconut-fibre mattress in my own room\, Rinpoche delighted in replacing it with a much better mattress than the one I had originally offered her. This epitomises Rinpoche’s generosity. True to her nature\, she always gives back more than she receives. \nRemembering this story\, I thought how wonderful it would be if\, on her 60th birthday\, we as a sangha could offer Rinpoche a beautiful new bedframe and mattress of the quality she herself would choose. This year as she focuses on her book\, she needs an adjustable bed where she can also sit and comfortably write her book. It would be for her Hervey Bay home\, where she now spends much of her time. \nIt is a simple gift\, yet one filled with meaning. It expresses our gratitude for the extraordinary care\, guidance\, wisdom\, and kindness that Rinpoche has given us over so many years. More deeply\, it creates a tendril of connection between our appreciation and the qualities we cherish in her life and example. \nTo Make a Birthday Gift Offering \nBirthday Offering \nWe invite you to become part of this tendril of connection between your own gratitude and the extraordinary qualities of Khandro Rinpoche upon which so many of us rely. \nThe bed itself is the material gift. The deeper gift is the connection of appreciation\, devotion\, and rejoicing that it represents. \nEvery contribution\, large or small\, is offered with gratitude\, devotion\, and heartfelt appreciation. \nBirthday Offering \nJoin the Online Birthday Celebration \nKhachodling Sangha and friends from around the world will gather online to celebrate Khandro Rinpoche’s life\, health\, and the continuation of her pure and authentic lineage. \nThroughout the day\, communities in different countries will make offerings and prayers on her behalf. In Hong Kong\, practitioners will conduct life-release activities. In India\, a candlelight puja will be offered to remove obstacles and create auspicious conditions for Rinpoche’s continued activities. Around the world\, students and friends will offer prayers\, flowers\, candles\, and birthday wishes. \nKhandro Rinpoche herself will join the celebration online from her Brisbane Sanctuary Australia. \nWe warmly invite you to join us in celebrating this special milestone and in offering our collective prayers that Rinpoche may remain with us for a long time\, continuing to benefit countless beings through her wisdom\, compassion\, and example. \nJoin the Celebration – The Khachodling Team \nFri\, 10 July @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm AESThttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/87230085291

SUMMARY:Guru Rinpoche Practice Session - 8 July
DESCRIPTION:Join to practice ‘A Shower of Blessings: A Guru Yoga Practice to Accompany the Seven Line Prayer’. \nThrough this practice\, for which Khandro Rinpoche began providing transmissions in 2025\, we offer a profound invocation to Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava). This sadhana was composed by Mipham Rinpoche and arranged by Togden Shakya Shri\, two great luminaries whose enlightened minds are inseparable from that of Guru Rinpoche himself. \nTogden Shakya Shri\, Khandro Rinpoche’s great-grandfather\, was a living flame who kept the lamp of Guru Rinpoche’s teachings burning brightly in the Himalayas. She & her brother Sey Jigme were born into this family of yogis who upheld the ancient lineage in its purest form\, so their daily life was immersed in meditation and sacred chanting\, including this special practice from their family lineage. \nThe seven line prayer\, around which this text is constructed\, holds the essence of the entire Vajrayana path. It is a heartfelt invocation that sprung from the enlightened minds of the Dakinis—wise and powerful female guides—from the eternal dimension of reality. \nJoin this practice. It is coordinated by Hobart Sangha. \n—————————————- \nNote that from the 1st May all the 4 Sangha Practices: \nChenrezig (fortnightly on Sundays)\, \nDevotion and Stability (every Sunday)\, \nGuru Rinpoche’s Shower of Blessings (every Wednesday evening) and \nMilarepa Guru Yoga (every Monday evening): \nare available to practitioners on a subscription basis. \nCost is $21 per month paid in advance. This will entitle you to attend any and all of the above sangha practices within that month. The subscription is intended to encourage practice together as a sangha\, as well as stable support for the ongoing dharma work of Khandro Rinpoche. \nAnyone wishing to attend just one or two practices will need to join the subscription for one month minimum\, after which it can be cancelled.https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86175570888

SUMMARY:Milarepa Practice Session - 6 July
DESCRIPTION:Milarepa (1052-1135) exchanged a life of cruelty and maliciousness for one of contemplation and love. After years of regular meditation practice in remote mountain settings he realised the nature of mind\, lived in joy and equanimity and expressed all that he had learnt in beautifully poetic songs of realisation. In doing so he became one of Tibet’s most beloved yogis. \nTogden Shakya Shri’s Mahamudra lineage traces back to Milarepa. Khandro Rinpoche’s father\, Apho Rinpoche was said to be an emanation of Milarepa. \nKhandro Rinpoche is residing in the Sanctuary in Hervey Bay and has recently been joined by her brother Sey Jigme. \nKhandro Rinpoche and Sey Jigme will teach and join the practice as time permits. \nNew participants are welcome to join and connect to Milarepa’s profound blessings.https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87343456360

SUMMARY:Devotion and Stability Practice Session - 5 July

SUMMARY:Guru Rinpoche Practice Session - 1 July
SUMMARY:Milarepa Practice Session - 29 June
\nNew participants are welcome to join and connect to Milarepa’s profound blessings.https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89112569046

SUMMARY:Astrological Pujas
DESCRIPTION:Astrological Pujas are a skilful means practice of Vajrayana Buddhism. They are detailed and often complex rituals by experienced practitioners who have trained extensively in mind practices to connect and infuse all phenomena with the natural Buddha-mind\, thereby creating circumstances that can displace especially strongly held karmic stagnant conditions and obstacles. \nThrough Khachodling’s website\, many people are now obtaining their astrological readings for the year. Specific pujas are often prescribed in these readings. There are many types of such pujas; some are to avert enemies\, some to sustain life energies\, some to remove obstacles deeply held in one’s family karmic history and so on. \nThere are many types of astrological pujas and what is performed is dependent on the specific circumstances of the. readings of the major and minor sponsors. Most of these pujas are so detailed they will require days of planning and preparation. Many practitioners are required\, specific substances collected\, effigies and tormas made and so on. Khachodling’s Astrological Team in Bhutan in association with Khandro Rinpoche\, plan\, prepare and conduct these specialised pujas generally 3-4 times a year. \nYou may join these through offering and through participation in the actual puja itself. \nYou will find the zoom link below and closer to the date we will specify a time that you may join online to witness and participate in this special event. \nTo make offering for this astrological puja online\, click this link. \n  \n https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89572539889

SUMMARY:Guru Rinpoche Practice Session - 10 June
SUMMARY:Milarepa Practice Session - 8 June

SUMMARY:Guru Rinpoche Practice Session - 27 May
DESCRIPTION:Join to practice ‘A Shower of Blessings: A Guru Yoga Practice to Accompany the Seven Line Prayer’.
