Penma has a very sad story that is rarely heard of in the Himalayas.

Penma has a very sad story that is rarely heard of in the Himalayas. Her parents live separately and have a very difficult relationship which is effecting her childhood. She has one brother and the family situation is difficult – the children feel displaced with their parents separated. In Indian culture family separation is frowned upon.

At present Penma lives in a boarding school and there is no one to take care of her during the holidays. Therefore, our Khachodling team plans to give her much needed attention and care. Penma will also come to stay at Bhutan Gompa during the school holidays.

As Penma is in boarding school, she is unable to join the Sunday dharma classes.

However the school that she attends is a Buddhist School and children are taught dharma and spiritual values in school. Penma lives at the same boarding school as Karan.

Penma’s parents are very grateful for Khachodlings support, they used to visit Bhutan Gompa the early years but we have not seen them for long time.

At boarding school, Penma studies English, Hindi, Math, Tibetan, General Knowledge, Moral Values, Social Studies and Science. Her favourite subjects are Social Studies and Computer Science. She loves modern gadgets and technology.

My class finishes at 3pm. I change and have some free time – I like playing Kho-Kho and Kabadhi (these are Himalayan games). We do prayers to Tara and sleep at 9pm.

When I am older I like to be a nurse and help sick people in Padar, my village.

My question for an Australian person: Do you have snow mountains in Australia?
