Khachodling, "the blissful land of the dakini"
is the essence from which the beauty of wisdom and compassion
radiate. This manifests as different projects in the service
of humanity. In this way the projects of Khachodling are dharma
in action.
The guiding principles of a Khachodling project
are the genuine teachings of the unbroken lineage of Lord
Buddha.
In particular Khachodling projects are:
 |
Spiritually rooted in the Drukpa Kargyud
tradition of Tibetan Buddhism and infused with bodhicitta |
 |
Self sustainable |
 |
Eco-friendly |
 |
Dialogue and action is based on mutual
respect and love.
Especially between communities that are
lay/monastic, east/west, women/men |
The focus of the Khachodling project is now
in the Zanskar area of the far northern Himalayas, where devoted
practitioners of the Drukpa Kargyud yogic lineage of Khandro-la's
family are truly in need of support and training because this
particular tradition is threatened with extinction. The yogic
aesthetic style of practice is challenged by the modern influences.
There are nuns in Zanskar who are deeply devoted and this
project is the first nunnery in the yogic tradition.
The Zanskar nuns will later work together
with the lay community and westerners, sharing skills and
care in the building of self-sustainable and eco-friendly
local communities.
There are other projects; Kalimpong - healing
garden, stupa and medical clinic; Himachaal Pradesh - education
and outreach centre; Delhi - administration and projects that
care for the poor in city slums.
This is a summary of the long term Khachodling
project vision. The unfolding of this project depends on the
offering of the skills, actions and finances as well as the
pure intention of those involved in this vision.
