"Journey Inward"
3 week Introductory Meditation Course with Khandro Thrinlay Chodon
Location Lotus Centre, 1 Rowe St Freshwater (Harbord)
Contact : Heather Greer 80076380
In our busy lives we seldom stop and look within. We lose ourselves in business and forget our interconnectedness to everything around. Meditation trains us to stop for a moment and look deeply. This calms our mind to notice the true depth and beauty within. From this ground we develop strength to break the cycle of everyday reactive habits and live joyfully and courageously in dealing with life's sufferings.
Topics for each of the three Wednesday nights:
27th January 2010 - 7pm
Meditation - Calming the MInd and Looking Within
3rd February 2010 - 7pm
Meditation on Impermanence and Karma
17th February 2010 - 7pm
Meditation on the Heart of Enlightenment
“Spirituality in Every Day”
Public Talk 11th February 2010 7.30pm
Location: Buddhist Library
90 Church Street, Camperdown
Most people hold the view that spirituality is separate from our daily activities. However the real value of spirituality is to bring awareness and care into every thought, word and deed. There is nowhere to escape to – rather we must with diligence and mindfulness, open to the depth of every moment, wherever we are. This requires respect for oneself, living a life of no inner or outer deception.

Introductory Evening “The Web of Life”
Friday 19th February 7.30pm
Location: Carnegie Primary School Hall
51 Truganini Road, Carnegie 3163
In our busy lives we seldom stop to look at the cycles that are in the seasons, the weeks, the days and even the last hours. We lose ourselves in busyness and forget our interconnectedness to everything around. We believe we are independent and focus on the false solidity of who we appear to be, yet when we look deeply we are totally interdependent on every level. When we see and accept this beautiful web that we are part of, our heart expands and compassion and love display impartially.
Day Workshop “Meditation and the Journey Inward”
Saturday 20th February 9.30am-4pm
Location: Carnegie Primary School Hall
51 Truganini Road, Carnegie 3163
Khandro-la will follow on from the evening by introducing participants to reflection and meditation. These exercises replenish our connectedness and surrender to deeper truths. Meditation trains us to stop for a moment and look deeply. This calms our mind to notice the beauty within. From this ground we develop strength to break the cycle of everyday reactive habits and live joyfully and courageously in dealing with life's sufferings. The workshop will be an opportunity to revitalize our relationship with inner serenity and rejuvenate our connection to our selves and our environment.

Day Workshop “Meditation in Every Day”
Saturday 27th February 9.30am-4pm
Location: Weeroona Yoga Centre
326 Elizabeth Street, North Hobart
Khandro-la will follow on from the evening by
introducing participants to reflection and meditation. Meditation trains us to
stop for a moment and look deeply into our mundane life. We are led by our reactive
habits and emotions and do not have control, especially in chaotic times, over
our monkey mind. Through this inward looking process we discover our own basic
goodness, loaded like a jewel, with a dignity and honour that will allow us to
deal courageously with our shortcomings and life’s sufferings without feeling
guilty. The workshop will be an opportunity to revitalize our relationship with
inner serenity and rejuvenate our connection to our selves and our environment.

Easter Retreat 2010
Friday, 2nd April at 9.30am - Monday, 5th April at 1pm
In the grounds of Rozelle Hospital (also know as the old Callen Park),
off Wharf Rd, Rozelle
Early Morning Meditation/Breakfast - open to non-retreatants (Sat-Mon) 7am – 9.30am
Retreat means to be away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Take a break, and come to an environment where our physical body, busy thinking mind, and aggravating emotions can rest. On this retreat Khandro-la will guide each of us into silence, showing how to turn the mind inward and draw upon our own basic goodness with strength and confidence.
Each early morning Khandro-la will teach the calm abiding Shamata meditation of Mahamudra, while in other sessions she will transmit the Avalokiteshvara practice, the Buddha of Compassion. This is a unique practice from the mind-treasure of her great- grandfather Togden Shakya Shri. The aim of this retreat is to ground and deepen into a cycle of practice, which is integrated into our daily lives. Our daily lives are not separate from our spiritual practice.
When we learn to give vacation to our judgmental and critical minds, to calm and rest in peace, this breaks the cycle of everyday reactive habits. The strength, joy and care which comes from this place of deep rest enables us to deal with life’s sufferings courageously.
